Kingston Design Showhouse

Nonprofit Partners

Kingston Design Connection selected a local nonprofit to be the recipient of proceeds from our Showhouse ticket sales and partnered with educational institution(s):

2022

Ulster County Habitat for Humanity

Ulster County Habitat for Humanity, founded in 1996, is a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve homes. Studies demonstrate that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. Every person deserves a decent, safe place to live. Together, with our supportive community, Ulster Habitat helps families build homes, ensuring a brighter future that has been demonstrated to be multi-generational.

2021 marks the completion of 20 local homes for 20 local families. Habitat partner families are good neighbors and exhibit pride in ownership. Each new Habitat house contributes to the tax base of Ulster County, and to the long-term stability of the family and the community. We anticipate building 3 homes a year going forward.

Their shop ReStore opened in 2013 and generates hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in support of our housing mission, as well as supporting reuse, recycling, and affordable re-homed goods for our neighbors.

2021

Kingston City Land Bank

A not-for-profit public authority that creates affordable, first-time homeownership opportunities in Kingston, N.Y. Kingston Design Connection is taking over the design and execution of the interiors and garden of one Land Bank property to serve as the 2021 Showhouse. This saves the Kingston City Land Bank the interior renovation budget so they can renovate more homes in a faster timeframe. After the showhouse, it will be sold below market value to eligible buyers to help maintain affordable housing in Kingston.
